About the work

‘I had to find a passage back, to the place I was before’ We all know these dramatic moments where life suddenly takes an unwanted turn. Time suddenly stands still and your first reaction is fear and denial. Last year both my parents passed away and I started thinking about working around the theme of mourning and the transformative power of life changing moments. In this painting I placed my subject who looks overwhelmed by fear of falling into the abyss in the abstract and uncontrollable universe that characterizes my work.
