About the work

‘You can call it ’Inner Heel' dad.' That's the skate trick my son is demonstrating in this painting. Placing my subjects in abstraction is an act in which I tend to invite my viewers to reflect on what's essential in life. To undo the subject of his context gives us the opportunity to reflect on what really matters. As a father this is something I value highly towards my children. In the polarizing climate this world bades in, I think Art has to invite people to take a breath and reflect on the essence.

The technique of different layers of acryl pouring, resin and pigments give dept to the image. The glossy result functions as a mirror, inviting you to look at yourself in the artwork.
